Andrew Thornton February Readers Design Challenge Reveal

Hi Everyone,

I am a bit late in getting this post up (about an hour). I have been very sick for the last two weeks so between sleeping in and the west coast time difference. So apologies...Now on to the reveal!

February's kit was beautiful shades of purples and pinks...the custom bead mix also had just a hint of red. All wonderful colors for Valentine's. Somewhat sadly this also marks the final installment in Andrew's Readers Design Challenge. I had many ideas in mind for this kit but with getting sick I was only able to complete two projects in time for reveal but I do look forward to using all the goodies I have left in other projects over the coming months.

I had some new dragonfly images I was creating my ephemera tiles from and these beads were just so perfect with this one. I added Vintaj findings and bronze wire wrapping and voila! a beautiful vintage style bracelet.

Below shows a close up of the clasp and tile detail. I am very pleased with how this piece turned out.

Next I used the pendant from Erin Pras-Hintz of Tesori Trovati, choosing beads to compliment all the lovely shades in this mini treasure.
Silver plated findings and silver filled wire wrapping for the crystals and jade, I also used the 1/2 strands of acrylic and czech rounds, separating every few beads in a darker matched color to the strand.

Thanks to Andrew for providing these wonderful opportunities to challenge us! I think we all look forward to seeing how your future endeavors grow!

Please be sure to check out what these wonderful designers created from their February kits!

The pieces you made are lovely and I think you used the kit well! Great job! My favorite is the dragonfly piece, the tile has hints of the kit colors and just soars!

  6. Love the subtle color variations in your bracelet. Took a detour over to your Etsy shop to drool over your work. Wonderful pieces! Nice use of Erin's focal in the necklace - it brings a magical quality to the piece.
